Processing and Control for Professional AV Installations

xIO Bluetooth Series

The Symetrix xIO Bluetooth family of PoE-powered Dante endpoints are the perfect addition to any Symetrix Composer based installation needing flexible wall mounted connectivity with world-class audio performance.

Series Features

Available in black or white, the xIO Bluetooth family has a clean, sleek design and is compatible with standard Decora faceplates. The family consists of two models: the xIO Bluetooth for those needing simple convenient Bluetooth IO in a single gang form factor, and the xIO Bluetooth RCA-3.5 which adds additional flexibility in the form of stereo RCA and 3.5 analog IO for the connection of user supplied devices. Using a modern, full-featured Bluetooth 5.0 chipset, the xIO Bluetooth family offers extended range, a stable connection, and world-class audio quality.

Perfect for Conferencing, Hospitality, Education, or House of Worship use, all aspects of the device can be controlled using Symetrix remotes, SymVue touchscreens panels, or user devices. And complete configuration is fast and efficient from within Symetrix Composer software.

xIO Bluetooth and xIO Bluetooth RCA-3.5 require Symetrix Composer software for configuration and a Symetrix Dante DSP for operation.

  • Updating Symetrix Bluetooth Endpoint Firmware from 8.5.2 to 8.5.3 and beyond

On January 17, 2024 the Symetrix Engineering Team discovered a complication when testing a pre-release version of Composer and firmware for xIO Bluetooth and xIO Blutooth RCA. The issue has been addressed and fully tested in the latest Composer release (8.5.3). Unfortunately for systems running the latest Bluetooth firmware from Composer 8.5.2, the next upgrade will require a one-time, customized procedure.

    Issue Description:

When attempting to upgrade/downgrade from xIO Bluetooth Firmware 2.29, Composer will report a successful update, but will then report that the xIO Bluetooth device needs updating again. This process can be repeated but the xIO Bluetooth upgrade will never actually be successful.

To upgrade/downgrade from Composer 8.5.2 (xIO Bluetooth Firmware 2.29):

    1. Factory reset each Symetrix Bluetooth device by physically holding the side-mounted reset button with a flat head screwdriver when connecting the Ethernet cable.
    2. The device will perform a factory reset which will then let it properly accept an update to the next firmware version 2.31 found in Composer 8.5.3.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are available by phone and email to assist any customer with this procedure.

  • Can I change the default PIN on my xIO Bluetooth?

Yes! In Composer, with the xIO Bluetooth located, you can change the PIN number through the unit's Intelligent Module. If online with Composer or Connected Offline with the Intelligent Module, the PIN will update live once entered into the PIN field. It is still a good idea to then re-push the file to system to update the archive in the DSP.

  • Can I use xIO Bluetooth devices with non-Symetrix DSP systems?

Yes. You can use any Symetrix Dante expander units with third party DSPs and systems. However, these devices will not be configurable beyond what Dante control allows, and will remain in their default settings.

    • The front panel pairing button is the only way to initiate pairing.
    • Audio bridging mode is Media ONly
    • Connection mode is Single, which only allows one device to pair at a time and device are not remembered.
    • Sleep Mode is enabled and set to 60 seconds
    • Default PIN is 0000
    • Analog inputs are RCA
    • Device name is “xIO-Bluetooth-[#]” or “xIO-Bluetooth-RCA-3-5-[#]”. Network name can be edited in Dante Controller, but may not change display name with pairing – this may require Composer.
